The Vista Trio

The Vista Trio was formed in the fall of 2018 and has since established itself as an ensemble known for its dynamic performances and commitment to chamber music. Comprised of faculty members from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the trio regularly performs programs of diverse repertoire at venues across South Texas. In August 2023, the Vista Trio was invited to perform at the 51st Annual National Flute Association Convention, where they presented works by Koechlin, Dubois, and Pierné. Their performances continue to be recognized for their musicality and ensemble synergy. They expect their first album to be released in 2025.

Dr. Elizabeth Janzen is Associate Director of the School of Music and Professor of Flute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and performs as a recitalist, chamber musician and clinician across North America. A native of Newfoundland, Canada, she pursued formal studies at the University of Toronto with Susan Hoeppner and at the Manhattan School of Music, with Linda Chesis.  She gave her debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 2005 and was praised in the New York Concert Review for “…velvety tone radiating from her flute…” and her “…impressive technical abilities…”   In 2007 she was invited to be the first flute fellow in The Academy, a post-graduate program developed by Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School.  Dr. Janzen serves as 2nd flutist with the Victoria Symphony, TX and she has performed internationally with a number of chamber ensembles including The Fireworks Ensemble, DeCoda, Dark X Five and Vista Trio.  She is a Burkart Artist.

Dr. Thomas Zinninger is currently the Director of Jazz Studies and Associate Professor of Saxophone at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Equally comfortable in a number of musical styles, Zinninger's performance credits include the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra. As a soloist, he has premiered new arrangements for the saxophone at both the World Saxophone Congress and North American Saxophone Alliance National Conferences. As a saxophone scholar and pedagogue, he has presented numerous clinics across the country and is a published author in the Saxophone Symposium. In addition to TAMUK, Zinninger has also held faculty positions at Wittenberg University and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).  Zinninger is a Yamaha Performing Artist and holds degrees from the University of Louisville and CCM.

Dr. Sehee Lee is an accomplished pianist and Assistant Professor of Practice in Piano and Collaborative Piano at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she is highly regarded for her expertise in collaborative performance and chamber music. She has performed extensively across the United States, Germany, Luxembourg, Mexico, and Korea, with a focus on recitals featuring vocalists and instrumentalists. As a soloist, Dr. Lee has performed with the Kingsville Orchestra and is a dedicated educator, serving on the piano faculty at the Montecito International Music Festival. Her summer festival engagements include collaborative artist residencies at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Vianden Music Festival, and Killington Music Festival. Dr. Lee holds degrees in Piano Performance from Kyunghee University and Collaborative Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She completed her doctorate in Collaborative Piano at Arizona State University on a full scholarship.
